Harris County Universal Services Cybersecurity is sponsoring educational campaigns every Monday in October in recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. All Harris County employees will receive an email from HCUS Cybersecurity that will provide awareness lessons and exercises.
According to Kimma Wreh, HCUS Enterprise Cybersecurity Manager, cybercriminals use different techniques to access sensitive or personal information; therefore, each campaign will focus on a particular topic and include the necessary training links. The weekly themes for the "Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart" campaign are: "Be Cyber Smart," "Phight the Phish!," "Explore. Experience. Share. – Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week” and “Cybersecurity First."
"We encourage employees to work together to establish a security-focused culture where security is everyone’s responsibility," Wreh said.
Now in its 18th year, Cybersecurity Awareness Month was created by Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) to raise awareness about the importance of online security across the nation and ensure all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure.
