Harris County – September 23, 2025 - Harris County Universal Services Fleet Services has been recognized as one of the nation’s top sustainable fleets, placing 44th place in the 2025 Green Fleet Awards Competition by NAFA Fleet Management Association. Rankings were announced during the Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference & Expo in Winston-Salem, NC.
The NAFA Fleet Management Association is the fleet industry’s largest membership association. Now in its 18th year, this competition recognizes organizations that implement and execute groundbreaking and inventive programs for their green initiatives, as well as peak-performing fleet sustainability efforts.
Fleet Services operates a mix of hybrid and electric vehicles, including light-duty sedans, SUVs, police patrol units, pickup trucks, and cargo vans. These EVs and hybrids assist mission critical personnel with essential services, from daily administrative operations and field inspections to law enforcement patrol, site visits, pollution control, and specialty operations.
Harris County Universal Services stood out in this year's competition with its Future Fleet Goal, which plays a key role in their strategic plan for 2024-2027.
The goal concentrates on the County’s future fleet, with the goal of integrating mobility technologies to improve cost effectiveness and environmental conditions. Future fleet also champions:
- Climate adaptation, resilience and mitigation strategies, including the expansion of EV infrastructure.
- Reducing environmental impact through sustainable fleet practices.
- Positioning Harris County as a sustainable and livable county.
