HCUS Launches New HCJAD Website

The Harris County Universal Services Web Design team launched the new Harris County Justice Administration Department website on May 27.

According to Dustin Acker, HCUS-Web Design Team Lead, the website was reorganized to help users find information easier and faster, and the colors were updated to fit in with the department's new branding. More content was also added, including a calendar of events on the home page.

"The new website is now more eye-catching and informative, and easier to navigate," Acker said. "The JAD team had a vision and some great ideas. They put a lot of thought into the design process."

Laura Lucas, HCJAD Communications and Media Relations Manager, said, "The key for us was our audience. We wanted something that would be layed out in a user-friendly manner so every visitor could easily see and understand the work JAD is doing for the county."

Good organization, usability, branding and a little bit of "outside the box" thinking were very important, according to Kristina Robertson, HCJAD executive assistant.

"We're very thankful to the entire JAD department for being very supportive of this new website. They trusted our design choices and provided valuable feedback," Robertson said. "We're also grateful to the whole Universal Services team that included Dustin Acker and Carlos Garrido for helping us create the website we envisioned. The web team was great to work with."

JAD intends to add more content to the website, including blogs and podcasts, Robertson added.
