May 9, 2025 – Harris County, TX – Harris County Universal Services (HCUS) Fleet Services has been named one of the 2025 100 Best Fleets in the Americas by the NAFA Fleet Management Association. This year’s competition was the most competitive yet, with a record number of applications. Placements were announced during NAFA’s Institute & Expo in April, the largest fleet event of 2025.
HCUS Fleet Services ranked:
- #1 County Fleet in the South Central Region (TX, OK, NM)
- #5 Overall in the South Central Region
- #74 Overall in the Americas
“For our first year entering this competition, I am thrilled about this achievement,” said HCUS Executive Director Sindhu Menon. “We have a dedicated, experienced fleet team that provides excellent service to our customers. This award not only validates that, but also shows us where we can improve and become one of the best.”
HCUS Fleet Services was recognized for several peak-performing initiatives including maintaining high performance uptime across a large, diverse fleet; establishing best practices for resilience under extreme conditions; developing one of the most robust clean fleet and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) infrastructure programs; and building a professional, efficient workforce.
HCUS Fleet Services supports 56 departments across 26 agencies, managing more than 4,700 vehicles through nine vehicle maintenance centers and 21 fueling stations.
Assistant Director of Sustainability Christopher Vieira and Technician Thomas Coats received honorable mention in the categories of Fleet Professional of the Year and Fleet Technician of the Year, respectively.
For more than two decades, the 100 Best Fleets in the Americas program has recognized peak-performing public fleet operations, encouraging continuous improvement across the industry. Fleet applicants are evaluated on 12 Criteria for Excellence, which highlight areas where fleet operations excel.
