April 30, 2025 - Harris County, TX - The 2025 Government Technology Harris County Regional Digital Government Summit was held on Apr. 23 in Downtown Houston. Harris County Universal Services welcomed Government Technology, an award-winning media platform covering technology's role in state and local governments, for the first regional summit held in the county along with public sector IT professionals from across the Southeast Texas region.
HCUS Executive Director and Chief Information Officer Sindhu Menon provided opening remarks noting the importance of partnership and collaboration to elevate the region.
“It is important to come together and engage in discussion surrounding the challenges and opportunities,” said Menon. “Our challenges are no different from any other private or public sector entity. We are all looking at best practices and cost efficiencies to incorporate the multitude of new technologies, while maintaining security and accessibility to our solutions.”
Keynote speaker John Register, two-time Paralympic silver medalist, set the tone for the day with his speech about transforming adversity into advantage. His message to leaders emphasized navigating change
The summit sought to explore innovative solutions to solve government problems. Key themes included cybersecurity, digital transformation, AI implementation, data governance, and fostering collaboration across multiple stakeholders. HCUS leaders sat on several discussion panels centered around these themes along with speakers from Harris County Public Library, City of Houston, Houston-Galveston Area Council, University of Houston, and more.
Participants ended the day with a networking session to reinforce the positive connections and ideas shared throughout the day.
